Where are you this weekend? - 2024/25

Looks like they’ve gone to Preston Grasshoppers
I'm at PG this week. We'll see.

That said DMP have committed to fulfilling their fixture. I suppose that doesn't necessarily mean with their "regular" personnel.

Hopefully they can regroup and not just fall through Nat 2 North next year.

While we're on the subject.

This weekend:-

Nat 2 North AR2

Preston Grasshoppers v Otley

7th v 12th although there's only 15 pts covering the bottom eight teams.

Hoppers stuttering season continues having still not recorded more than 2 consecutive wins. Otley won the reverse fixture convincingly at Cross Green although they haven't managed more than 1 consecutive win!

Another AGP so expecting an open game.

Nat 2 could be good for us, and barring an injury run we should be ok squad wise. If Billingham can hold their spot in Nat 2 then that would be good for NE rugby next season

I assume/presume they're not staying at the "Stadium"? It is a surreal experience: 1,000 people in a 25,000 seater stadium.

I'd heard they were off down to Blackwell to re-occupy DRFC's first team pitch at the expense of Darlington FC?

That said if they make the Stadium work in Nat 1 why not Nat 2(?) assuming their "following" don't disappear en masse. They will probably string a few victories together in Nat 2 and of course the saving on travel will be immense - a few trips around Manchester/Liverpool the furthest with Billingham on the doorstep and Tynedale about an hour away.

Many a rumour circulating, approx 99% of them without a splinter of truth.

Confident we can finish the season’s commitments and we’ll go from there

Won't be this weekend but I'm exploring becoming a referee for wheelchair rugby. There's a competition being set up locally and they're looking for refs.
Anyone had any experience?

Never let the facts get in the way of a good story. ;)

LLP Jr is refereeing DMP tomorrow against Esher. All things considered probably his last trip there.

Only watching, it's great fun. Not sure how much rugby refereeing experience would help though... Maybe in terms of managing foul play, otherwise basketball experience would probably be a much more useful background in terms of dynamics. But take a look and report back, please!

Hope he enjoys it, a lot of positive energy around the playing squad this week I hear, despite it all - no injuries would be nice though!
