NZ score try, Lam places ball at the furthest distance from posts. Ie the edge of the playing area.

The drop kicker starts from the touchline, but nicks a few Meters during his approach to kick before striking the ball. If it was a kick from the tee then the referee would likely insist on correct placement

Its not something to get too bent out of shape over, granted, but how much ' distance theft' pre-strike would you permit before disallowing it ?
 
OMG,

just seen Barbados (v scotland) penalised for "collapsing the ruck" ..... The Barbadian was saddle rolling the jackal attemptee in the same way that has been permitted in every previous match in this tourno and recent international history ......

!
 
The recent IRB ref videos are very clear about collapsing rucks and saddle rolls. Have a look at them.

Paddy Mac is the referee selector for IRB 7s

I know him from living in SoCal and being part of USA Rugby so get all sorts of stuff from him and them.

Anyway, long story short. The videos are the technical sessions held after/during each IRB 7s event so the refs are applying the same standards.

There's a few weird things being going on in the sevens.
Free kicks repeatedly being taken by tapping the ball to the foot.
Last night ref blows and shouts knock on, no advantage, then the team take a quick tap?
Jonathan Davies bleating on about the offside line at a tackle.
Commentators totally ignorant of the laws.
It's enough to make your blood boil.........and it's hot enough as it is.

I knew there had to be a reason all four semi-finalists are from the southern hemisphere. Thanks Phil.

I assume the ball does not leave the hands?

When I take a QT, I stick my foot on the mark, and tap the ball off of my foot.
 
I've seen a few where the ball is kicked out of the hands by brining the foot through then re cattching which is maybe what you are seeing

Yes Dr Stu, it does seem that 7s has re-embraced the ruck collapse. On first glance there seems to be very little difference in some of the case studies that are pinged or allowed. I think I'm working out what seems to be the dividing line. Thanks for sharing, very useful, I didn't think I'd missed any IRB cascaded info.

I still thought the YC on HT against Rodwell/England v Samoa was harsh, turned out to be game deciding.

Oh no....now one v Scotland!!!! Not again?????

No. It'd help if he played Rugby.

Hooper and Gill do, and are still young enough to see off Parahi who will be focused on Rio for the time being and I'd be surprised if he ever gets near the Wallabies' side.

I enjoyed the Final. GT and his charges looked stunned at the end.

Afrika and friends were much better than their opposite numbers and can't complain (are you listening Ian_Cook? :biggrin:)

No, the ball never left the hands, rugby league style.
