Referal To TMO

vimpe22

Referees in Sri Lanka
Scenario Recap:
• Team A commits foul play ( wrong entry to BD )

• Referee plays advantage for Team B.
• During the advantage, Team B throws a pass that is intercepted by Team A, who score a try

If referee is not certain there was advantage gained can referee refers to the TMO
Likely scenario

If the foul play was serious (e.g., high tackle, shoulder charge), the referee would likely:
• Disallow the try (since advantage wasn’t clearly gained)
• Go back to the penalty for Team

If five phases have passed and the non-offending team has gained 20 meters after the foul play, can the referee would not go back for the penalty — and disallow the interception following a AR report to review because advantage was not gained.

The referee decides when advantage is over. The ARs and TMO have nothing to contribute, so no, it's not appropriate to refer. If advantage is still being played, the referee should blow the whistle before team A score.

Number of phases or territory don't matter, all that matters is whether the referee decides advantage is over. If not, go for the penalty once the ball is intercepted.

Agree. Referee makes the call.

At the moment of the interception
- If the ref had already declared "adv over" then it was over, play on
- If the referee had not declared "adv over" then it wasn't, peep 'no advantage'
