No kicks to touch on that side?

so cheating at rucks/mauls/whatever in the hope of not being seen isn't cheating? In the knowledge that if caught cheating the oppo cant get out of their 22 in my example?

oh.
Not sure that I see a logical flow from my view on this odd kicking/touch issue to cheating at rucks and mauls.

Id explain but I suspect the clear as day connection would still escape some.
Aw didds, that’s nonsense it’s not ‘clear as day!. Mine was a reasonable question, if you’re able to explain please do, after all it’s not like you to be reticent about posting something.

As a reminder, I posted that having this local rule/bylaw was not a cheats charter. Utilising the rule is not cheating in my opinion.

You responded with an assumption question, asking me if cheating at rucks and mauls without being seen is not cheating. So to help you, this matter has no relevance to my view on this kicking/touch issue. For the hard of understanding, the answer to that question is ‘no’. Hopefully this is clear as day?

right.

attacking close to (ie < 10m) oppo line
seeking the edge to score ie cheating
if not caught - likely try
if caught - most oppo can do is still be inside their 22m with a lineout, under pressure and not near half way.

thats not 25m from the oppo tryline, its < 10m. The defenders would want a 25-30m clearance. they can't have it. QED cheating doesnt overly punish attackers if caught with a high reward to risk scenario.

QED cheats charter.

A lot of RL teams at lower levels when they have PK to touch don't bother with the kick. The referee will award a tap on the 20m mark about 10/15m further upfield from the PK.

This keeps play moving, addresses the inevitable shortage of balls and saves having to go into the neighbour's yard, carpark etc. to fetch balls.

There was something similar when reffing at Aylesbury Prison. Only joking, not really.
similar again about playing at erlestoke prison back in the day - allegedly if the ball got kicked over the high barbed wire topped fence and "outside" the prison the inmates team would all volunteer to "go and get it"
