Ending the game before line out taken.

Can't remember which game it was over the weekend but one ending seemed odd to me.
Ball was kicked to touch in open play with about 5 seconds to go.
As players walked towards where the line would be the hooter sounded and the ref ended the game.
Now if it was a penalty to touch before or after the hooter we would all play on but was this decision correct?

IANAR but i tbought current practise was to play an in time awarded restart, once 80 minutes was up.

"A half ends when the ball becomes dead after time has expired unless:

a. A scrum, lineout or restart kick following a try or touchdown, awarded before time expired, has not been completed and the ball has not returned to open play."

So does AR sticking his flag up constitute an awarded lineout? I would think yes.

I think I would agree. As soon as flag goes up, LO awarded (even though not formed, whistle not blown)?

Similar situation, KO at 79:55, Scrum Advantage played, Horn goes, they move backwards, cock it up, 80:05 on clock, no advantage coming, tweet...

A) Game over, full time
or
B) Scrum

scrum hasnt completed. play on. otherwise a team winning within one score and an opposition feed will "cock-up" to get the game ended...
