    [INTERNATIONAL] How many penalties?

That's a brilliant clip. A gazillion penalties in a very short space of time. Wouldn't be long until 6v6 in a game like that if interpretations applied these days. Interesting question - does anyone really believe the game was better 'in the old days' if this sort or rubbish and highly...

    4.4km for 70 minute game

I've got a new fitness tracker which I used at my last game. Recorded me running (well, walking, jogging, running etc.) 4.4km over the course of a 70 minute game. It was a bit slow paced, lots of scrums and slow line outs. Anyone got some stats on their average distance travelled during a game?

    Weight/size grading - Australia attempt

This is so much a coaching problem. I've refereed many U16 and U18 games where the main point of attack was the big fella with a bit of speed who just barrelled through everyone. No sidestep, no thought of a pass, just run through the opposition, and encouraged by coaches. Yes it gets you the...

    [Maul] Maul - Legal collapse

Why do we constantly go down the rocking horse pooh route. How frequently are we ever likely to see the scenario that is being referred to? And even if it did happen, do you really think anyone would have a clue whether you were right or wrong to allow try/award a penalty/play on/scrum etc...

Ireland v France - HIA issue

You've clearly never suffered a significant ligament injury. I've had a concussion and a ligament injury and I can assure you the ligament I just has had much more lasting consequences than the concussion. I get the point you are trying to make, but be wary of such generalisations as they...

[Tackle] "You Must Be On Your Feet To Make a Tackle"...Sydney 7's

I like this in American Football on TV. They usually have an ex referee either in the commentary booth (Mr Mike Pereira) or hooked up somewhere to give interpretation, clarify laws etc. Bizarrely given American Football is arguably even more complex than rugby, commentators tend to be more...

    6 Nations Referee Focus.Points

Now this i definitely agree with and usually forms part of my PMB. I point out if you want to be on the fringe of the ruck, join from the hindmost feet and you must be fully bound. Standing in front of the ball with an arm on the guy next to you, preventing players pressuring the SH, ping...

    6 Nations Referee Focus.Points

I think they are focusing in the wrong area. Yes it is technically a law infringement, but if the ball is clearly won surely this helps promote interesting and engaging rugby. Rather than dig around with feet to get the ball in the right position to pass, they use their hands which speeds up...

[Scrum] Front row player forced up

I know this was discussed earlier in the thread and I think the general consensus is it is difficult to stay legally bound (long arm to back/side of the prop) whilst standing up, ergo penalty for losing binding (or against the opposition if you think they have driven up illegally). If you think...
