Waiting to see if the NZ press show a degree of embarrassment when reporting this or if they gloat and try to justify NZRU's actions.     You are correct that technically a maul has been formed but as didds points out, we tend to give it a second or so to see if a "tackle occurs" almost immediately so that play can continue and not be an 80 minute scrum expo

    You made this statement in an earlier post. 11.6(b) gives a clear example of where a player takes possession of the ball and can still satisfy those criteria for an accidental offside.
